To all our families and school community
As the 2018 school year begins, I wish to congratulate every student for getting off to such a good start. Schools are places of learning but this learning is much more than the learning in the classroom. We learn from experiences that are shared and opportunities that we take on. We learn from our friends and others around us and we learn from our wonderful teachers and support staff. Thank you to all our staff who work to make Glenroy College the best school it can be. Thank you to our families who provide strong support for their children to attend the College for their education. We trust that we are meeting your expectations of us.
We welcome aboard several new staff for 2018, including Sharon Franks, Brett Sanderson, as well as Sonia Poetrodjojo and Hannah Woods from Teach For Australia, and finally our new Chaplain, Amy Kirkbright. Vicky Lesis has also returned to the College after a period of leave.
Over the summer break, lots of building and works were completed, with the construction of a new Food Technology area in T block and the relocation of all other areas out of D block, as well as the re-surfacing of the basketball courts.
All families will soon receive a newsletter from the College with important communications about our new Sub-School structure, school programs and school supports.
Welcome back to Glenroy College, we look forward to working together and celebrating your child’s successes in 2018.
Technology for Learning
Our core business is improving student learning outcomes. Our teachers plan and work together to develop curriculum using technology. As we move to more online and innovative educational programs it is very important that your child has the right tool for learning. We ask that you ensure your child has a Lenovo laptop to bring to school. We are very pleased that JB Hi Fi will offer a payment plan to Glenroy College families so they can make a great start to their learning in 2017.
JB HiFi is our current provider for BYOD providing Lenovo 11e and 11e Yoga as recommended preferred devices. Purchasing through JB HiFi means that laptops are provided with a Warranty and Accidental Damage Protection (ADP). This means that for a small fee, laptops can be repaired under warranty. JB HiFi can also offer finance options to allow parents to make periodic payments if needed.
