Curriculum
At Glenroy College, curriculum is aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, providing a broad foundation that builds essential knowledge, skills and capabilities across all learning areas. Our approach supports students to develop as confident, curious and independent learners, while reflecting our College values and commitment to excellence.
Teaching and learning are designed to be responsive to student needs, with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy development, personalised goal setting, and meaningful student voice within the classroom.
As students progress through the College, the curriculum moves from breadth in the early years, to depth and choice in Years 9 and 10, and finally to specialised pathways in the senior years through VCE, VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM), VPC and VET programs, ensuring every student can pursue their passions and future goals with confidence.
Homework and study
Homework at Glenroy College supports students to become organised, independent and self-managed learners. It reinforces classroom learning, builds study habits and helps students develop time-management skills.

In addition to set homework, students are encouraged to complete independent study, such as:
- Independent reading
- Reviewing class notes
- Practising key skills or preparing for assessments
- Completing short project-based tasks
Reporting
Reports are an important way for families and teachers to work together in supporting each student’s progress and wellbeing.
Families receive regular updates through Compass:
- Progress Reports every six weeks - feedback on learning behaviours such as class participation and organisation.
- Learning Tasks - ongoing assessment feedback available throughout the semester, providing insight into student progress.
- Semester Reports - academic achievement against the Victorian Curriculum.
Reports can be accessed via the ‘Reports’ tab, and Learning Task feedback can be viewed under the ‘Learning Tasks’ tab in Compass. For further support, visit the Compass Parent and Family Guide here: https://www.compass.education/guide/.
Parents and carers are encouraged to discuss reports with teachers by phone, email or during parent–teacher conferences. They can also contact teachers via email or the general office to arrange a meeting.

Gold Cards
Our Gold Cards program celebrates students who consistently demonstrate our school values.
Gold Cards recognise positive contributions, effort and leadership, helping to build a culture of encouragement and belonging.
Students also have opportunities to participate in class and whole-school celebrations that reward teamwork, respect and achievement.
6Rs
Our 6Rs Process supports students to take responsibility for their behaviour and make positive choices. It is designed to intervene early and help students remain engaged in learning.
